Fraga's women's team will host Telecable this Tuesday in the third and final game of the OK Liga semi-finals after winning 1-4 in Gijón.
Esneca Fraga Skating Club hosts Telecable HC this Tuesday, June 2nd (20:30 pm, El Sotet Pavilion) in the third and final match of the OK Liga Iberdrola semifinals. Following their victory in Gijón last weekend (1-4), the Fraga team has the opportunity to qualify for another league final.
The tie is wide open, although the Bajocinco side will have the support of their fans in a stadium that has already witnessed some of the most important nights in the club's recent history. Esneca made the most of their visit to Asturias in a very demanding match, decided in the final minutes.
Telecable took the initiative for much of the first half, but were repeatedly thwarted by Anna Ferrer's saves. The score remained tied at halftime (1-1) after Aina Arxé put the Fraga team ahead and Nuria Almeida equalized for the home side.
After the restart, the match remained evenly contested for many minutes. However, just when extra time seemed inevitable, Adriana Soto broke the deadlock with a powerful shot. Barely a minute later, Carla Fontdegloria extended the lead, putting the Asturian side in a very difficult position. Telecable tried to mount a comeback until the final whistle, but Aina Arxé capitalized on the open spaces to seal the victory with the final score of 1-4.
Now the series returns to Fraga for a final, do-or-die match. The winner will secure a place in the OK Liga final, where Vila-sana, a regular Esneca rival in some of the biggest events in women's roller hockey in recent seasons, awaits.
But before even thinking about the final, the Fraga team must overcome a Telecable side that has shown throughout the playoffs that it gives nothing away . Fifty minutes separate one of the two teams from the title fight. The answer will come this Tuesday at El Sotet.
