Children and counselors had to sleep in a school in Pont de Suert, but they were looked after at all times and were not at any risk.
The heavy rains and hail this weekend have forced the evacuation of the Escultisme Fraga camp and a move to a high school in Pont de Suert for the night.
On Thursday, children and counselors from Escultisme Fraga traveled to Boí for this year's summer camp. On Saturday, July 6th, storms across much of the province of Huesca also affected the Fraga camp area , bringing heavy rain and even hail. Given the situation, the camp management decided to activate the protocol for such events , and everyone was transferred to the high school in Pont de Suert for the night.
The monitors looked after the children at all times, and the families were kept informed throughout the process. Although they were not in a dangerous situation, it was important for the parents to know about their children's situation and to know that they were well cared for.
The Fraga Scout Group would like to thank the Pont de Suert town council and high school for all the help and support provided to ensure a comfortable night. They also want to highlight the children's attitude and camaraderie during this situation. " They certainly deserve praise for how they behaved ," the organization stated.
Unfortunately, this year's camp had to end early because the area was unusable, but despite the circumstances, the Scouting organization is pleased with how everything was handled. Faced with this challenging situation, the appropriate protocols were activated and the response was as required. All the children and counselors behaved impeccably, reinforcing camaraderie and teamwork, values that are instilled in all the activities the organization runs throughout the year.
Around 15 pm today, Sunday, July 7th, everyone arrived in Fraga. Some counselors have remained on standby in the area, and the tents and the rest of the camp will be dismantled this week.
