On August 8th, Ontiñena CF will begin its participation in the new Diputación de Huesca Cup , an event that has generated " great enthusiasm and excitement " throughout the club, including the fans. "It's a novel idea, a new competition. When the president of the Diputación de Huesca (DPH) and the president of the FAF presented it to us, all the clubs thought it was fantastic," commented Hugo Lax , the club's president, in an interview with the Diario del Bajo Cinca.
The Ontiño team has entered this inaugural edition of the Huesca Provincial Cup, a tournament that "is here to stay," with the ambitious goal of winning it , especially considering that the final will be played at El Alcoraz , a stadium they have yet to play at. Playing there and winning the substantial prize at stake are reasons enough for all their players and coaching staff to have started preseason with boundless enthusiasm. "Everyone is giving 100% in training," confirms Lax.
From a purely sporting perspective, there are two aspects of this Huesca Champions League that are particularly appealing within the club: firstly, the fact that they are starting their preseason by competing against local teams . And for Ontiñena, this is no small matter: we must remember that they are facing the start of a historic campaign that will include their debut in the Copa del Rey . Therefore, arriving at the start of the official competition with good ball control and peak physical condition is essential for them.
On the other hand, Lax emphasizes what it means for the fans to enjoy this tournament: "From the preseason onwards, it keeps them excited" because they have the incentive of competing. August 8: Ontiñena CF – Tamarite
Everything is ready for the opening match: Tito Peinado's team will face a formidable opponent, Tamarite, at El Balsal . Lax anticipates a battle, recalling that their home ground is a fortress: they only lost one match last year, so they hope this first leg of the Diputación Cup won't break their excellent run of results in front of their fans. However, if they are eliminated early, they know exactly what will happen : they'll return next year to try and compete for everything again.
