Mequinenza manages to add 3 points and continues fighting for survival

Mequinenza - Magallon

The Greens won 1-0 against Magallón, thanks to a goal from debutant Yaya at the start of the second half

Mequinenza secured what was probably their best performance of the season against Magallón, a mid-table side that offered little threat. This improvement in their play comes at a critical time and resulted in a narrow victory, their fourth of the season, keeping the Greens firmly in the fight for survival.

In the first half, the home side were superior to an opponent who failed to create a single chance on target against Djiby's goal. Mequienenza did have a couple of good opportunities, the first in the 20th minute when John headed a corner straight into Tabuenca's hands, and three minutes later when Yaya broke down the right and fired a shot that went wide.

Immediately after the restart following the break, the Greens were rewarded for their excellent first-half performance thanks to a goal from debutant Yaya, which ultimately secured the victory. With 15 minutes remaining, Magallón began to apply pressure, making it difficult for the home side to play out from the back, although they failed to create any clear-cut chances. Mequinenza could have sealed the win in the 82nd minute on a counter-attack, but Lamin, who had come on as a substitute for Óscar, failed to capitalize, and a penalty appeal was filed.
