Additionally, two ground crews, a fire engine, and two agents from the Infoar Nature Protection Agency (APN) remained on site overnight, along with a team of firefighters from the Zaragoza Provincial Council and resources from Catalonia.
According to some media outlets, the mayor of Mequinenza, Antonio San Juan, has indicated that " The preliminary investigation shows that the origin was a cigarette butt ."
Claude Vallette, the campsite manager, explained on Aragón TV how the flames had come within meters of the facilities: " 50 meters more and goodbye campsite ... We've had many close calls. It's not the first time; it happened last year too. The enemy here is the wind. "
