The Enigma Group, Chamber Orchestra of the Zaragoza Auditorium (Aragon), announces this competition aimed at young composers under the name of the former artistic director and principal conductor of the OCAZEnigma in its beginnings
This competition, organized by the Enigma Group , Chamber Orchestra of the Zaragoza Auditorium (Aragon) , with almost 30 years of history, aims to promote current musical creation by people under 35 years of age who reside in Spain.
The winner of the 5th Juan José Olives Young Composers Competition is Christian Salamó Labat (2004), a composer from Fraga, for his work "Sonos" (2024). Christian is currently studying composition at the Aragón Higher Conservatory of Music (CSMA).
The work of the young Salamó will premiere on the Festival Ensembles tour , which will take place in early November in the cities of Madrid, Bilbao, Zaragoza and Logroño.
The Enigma Group, founded in 1995, is one of Spain's leading chamber orchestras. Resident ensemble of the Zaragoza Auditorium since its inception, Enigma has established itself through a bold and constantly evolving program, where tradition engages in dialogue with new contemporary forms of expression. Over these nearly 30 years of uninterrupted activity , the group has performed more than 300 world premieres and commissioned over 200 new works.
The Zaragoza Auditorium Chamber Orchestra-Enigma Group, throughout its history, has performed more than 800 works, including 350 world premieres and around 200 commissioned works, premiering and performing works by the most important composers in our country.
The Enigma group, continuing its commitment to promoting contemporary musical creation, announces the fifth edition of its competition for young composers under 35 years of age residing in Spain. This competition is named after Juan José Olives, in memory of the former artistic director and principal conductor of OCAZEnigma since its inception.
