CP Fraga will play this Sunday at 13pm (Spanish time), in Coimbra, in the final of the WSE Champions League Women after beating CP Vila-Sana in an exciting semi-final that was decided in the penalty shootout
Two teams with clear aspirations of reaching the final played out a very evenly matched game, which required extra time and penalties to decide the winner after a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation time. In the decisive shootout, CP Fraga scored two penalties, while Vila-Sana only managed to convert one.
The first half was marked by high intensity, with both teams trading possession and attacking opportunities, resulting in a fast-paced and hard-fought match. Despite chances created at both ends, the goalkeepers' outstanding performances prevented any further goals.
The first goal of the match was scored by Adriana Soto, who put CP Fraga ahead with a powerful shot that surprised the opposing defense. The Fraga team could even have extended their lead, but Vinyet Flix was unable to beat Anna Salvat.
After the break, Vila-Sana increased the pressure in search of the equalizer, which would eventually come thanks to Luciana Agudo, who took advantage of a ball in front of the goal after a previous action by Aina Florenza.
With the score tied 1-1, the match remained level until the end of regulation time, and there were no changes in extra time either, so the passage to the final had to be decided from the penalty spot. There, CP Fraga showed greater accuracy to seal a historic qualification.
Vila-Sana's coach, Lluis Rodero, acknowledged after the match that his team did not start well and lamented their lack of accuracy in front of goal, although he highlighted the work done and assured that they will continue working to face the Copa de la Reina in the best possible conditions.
For his part, CP Fraga coach Jordi Capdevilla expressed his satisfaction with the victory and highlighted the difficulty of the match against a top-level opponent. He also noted that the final against Benfica will be a very demanding match, similar to the semifinal, especially in terms of defense.
