The competition, part of the Road to MotoGP™ program, officially debuted its new name
The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya hosted this weekend the first scoring event of the FIM MotoJunior World Championship 2026 , an event that marked the beginning of a new stage for the championship promoting young talents, formerly known as JuniorGP™, and which brought together the future promises of international motorcycling.
The competition, part of the Road to MotoGP™ program , officially debuted its new name on a weekend that brought together nearly 160 riders spread across the Moto3 Junior World Championship , Moto2 European Championship , Stock European Championship and the new Moto4 European Cup , which replaced the European Talent Cup.
In the championship's premier category, the Moto3 Junior World Championship , Leonardo Zanni won the first race of the weekend, while Giulio Pugliese took the victory in the second race, a result that allows him to become the first leader of the 2026 season.
Another of the most exciting races was the Moto4 European Cup , where Álvaro Lucas staged a spectacular comeback from the back of the grid to take the victory by just six thousandths of a second , after a finish so close that Race Direction had to review the images of the finish line.
The atmosphere was also a major highlight of the weekend. Fans were able to access the paddock and participate in the traditional Pit Walk , getting up close to the teams and riders and experiencing firsthand the atmosphere of a championship considered the main feeder series for the MotoGP World Championship. More than 10.000 spectators enjoyed the opening round of the season.
With this premiere, the FIM MotoJunior World Championship begins a seven-race season that will take place at some of the main European circuits and will have one of its most important events at MotorLand Aragón , where the championship will once again bring together the future stars of motorcycling from September 25 to 27.
