Athletes from Fraga and the surrounding area once again conquered podiums this weekend
The pool of athletes in our region continues to produce champions for local sport. The Fraga-Bajo Cinca Athletics Club has established itself as an excellent sports academy, having produced several prominent athletes in recent years. Elena Guiu, Javi Cruz, Elena Daniel, and Inés Zugasti are some of the club's best-known former athletes, but the future remains promising, thanks to the talent and the commitment to developing local talent, as its president, Juan Carlos Longán, points out.
The Sports Complex and the improvements made to the facilities in recent years have been a significant factor in the development of athletics in Fraga and the surrounding area. Furthermore, the hard work of the coaches and the board has undoubtedly been essential to the success of all the athletes who have come through the program and are achieving excellent results in regional, national, and even international competitions.
Eloy Mur, as a coach, is also a name etched in the recent history of athletics in Fraga and the surrounding area. Now, the torch has been passed to other coaches, such as Victor Arribas, who this weekend accompanied Ruben Cruz to the Spanish U16 Indoor Championships , where the Fraga native won the bronze medal with a throw of 15,20 meters.
Meanwhile, at the Aragon Under-14 Championships held in Zaragoza, the Fraga Athletics Club once again won several medals. Nerea Santamaría took gold in the high jump with a mark of 1,40 meters. Additionally, in the shot put, Awa Sangarre was crowned champion, winning gold, and Andrea Solé earned bronze in the same event.
