The council has completed the installation of the artificial turf.
The new turf at the "Las Rías" Municipal Football Field in Mequinenza has brought back the green color to the playing surface, boasting a magnificent appearance and optimal conditions, according to the City Council, so that the 6 teams of Mequinenza Club Deportivo, both the first team and the youth teams, can train and play in the best conditions to face their sporting commitments for the upcoming start of the season.
Its official commissioning is scheduled to take place next Sunday the 18th in the afternoon with a friendly triangular tournament between Deportivo Sobrarbe, Club de Fútbol Albagés and Mequinenza Club Deportivo.
The playing surface will require less daily maintenance and will not suffer from the accumulation of matches and training sessions or from potentially adverse weather conditions. However, other surface conservation measures will need to be considered to preserve it, and these will require raising awareness among the public rather than the athletes themselves, who have already used this type of field and are familiar with the recommendations and rules of use.
At the end of May, Mondo Ibérica began installing artificial turf at the "Las Rías" Municipal Football Field. Simultaneously, the Municipal Works Department has been carrying out maintenance on the rest of the facility to ensure it is ready for the start of official competitions. The Mequinenza Town Council awarded the contract for €386.920,80, fully funded through the Zaragoza Provincial Council's (DPZ) Unified Grant Plan (PLUS).
