This week, the plenary session approved the awards for the entities and the recognitions for dedication to police service.
The Fraga City Council held its regular plenary session for March on Thursday, during which it unanimously approved awards for local entities. Among these, the awarding of the Gold Medal of the City of Fraga to Unión Deportiva Fraga stands out , commemorating the club's centenary, which is being celebrated this year.
Within the awards section, three other items were dedicated to associations. The awarding of the Bronze Medal to the Dones de Fraga Association for its 50th anniversary was approved , as well as the presentation of the City Shield to the Bajo Baix Cinca Intersectoral Business Association and the Bajo Cinca Real Madrid Supporters Club for the 25th anniversary of both organizations. Likewise, the awarding of the Police Service Dedication Medal for 25 and 20 years of service was approved, recognizing the dedication and commitment of local officers.
All these institutional distinctions and recognitions will be officially presented at the Honors and Distinctions ceremony , which will take place on April 23 at 18:00 p.m. For the first time, it will be held in the Florida Room.
As for the rest of the resolutions, the detailed study for Jaime I Street, numbers 53 and 55, promoted by José María Lax Valencia, was unanimously and definitively approved. Regarding territorial organization, the plenary session validated the boundaries of the municipalities of Fraga with the Lleida towns of Alcarràs, Massalcoreig, and Torres de Segre , points that were approved with the support of all groups.
In the area of public services, the transfer of ownership of the concession for the Bus Station bar was unanimously approved . Furthermore, the amendment to the 2025 Municipal Inventory of Assets and Rights passed with the support of all four political groups, while the Annual Regulatory Plan for 2026 was approved with the sole abstention of the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party). A budget amendment, consisting of a reduction due to cancellation and a supplementary budget allocation, was also approved with the support of all parties.
Finally, the plenary session debated the proposals presented by the VOX municipal group. Of the four debated, only the proposal to regulate access to municipal facilities in cases of complete face covering was approved . This motion was supported by the PP and VOX; the PSOE and Entre Todos voted against it.
Regarding the motions to eliminate the halal menu and to ensure that the commission of serious crimes leads to the loss of the right to receive subsidies, they did not pass. The PP, PSOE, and Entre Todos parties voted against them, arguing that the City Council lacks the authority in both cases.
Finally, the proposal to install a children's playground next to the María Moliner school did not go ahead since PP and Entre Todos understood that it is a project that the government team already has in its portfolio and whose execution is subject to budgetary availability.
