The mayor made these statements in the context of the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Mequinenza Declaration, held this weekend in the municipality itself.
More than 300 people, according to a press release issued by the Bajo Cinca town council, participated in the main event of this celebration at the Sala Goya. Among those participating in the commemoration were Maite Moret, a philologist from Mequinenza; the mayors of Arenys de la Noguera, Nonaspe, and Bonansa who signed the first declaration in 1984; former President of the Government of Aragon, Marcelino Iglesias; and journalist Miriam Riau, as well as other individuals and representatives of cultural organizations and political parties from Aragon and Catalonia.
Julia Cruz and Carla Azanuy also performed, and a manifesto was read in Catalan and Aragonese.
