After an intense match, the team coached by Jordi Capdevila beat Telecable HC in the penalty shootout
The second semifinal match between Fraga and Gijón was decided in a penalty shootout . Both teams finished regulation time tied 2-2, extra time ended 4-4, and the penalty shootout pushed the fans to their limits, ultimately resulting in a 4-1 victory for Fraga.
In its second season in the top division, the third in the club's history, Esneca Fraga will play in the OK Liga Iberdrola final for the first time and, if it wins the title, will achieve a historic double for such a young club.
Telecable HC scored the first goal through Sara Lolo (1-0, min. 10). Fraga equalized before halftime with a goal from Adriana Soto (1-1, min. 14). In the second half, Esneca took the lead a few minutes in with a goal from Vinyet Flix (1-2, min. 35). But Marta Piquero, from Telecable, sent the match to extra time (2-2, min. 43).
When play resumed, it seemed like everything was going Gijón's way. Piquero and Sara Roces put them ahead 4-2. But once again, Fraga kept their cool and showed their competitive spirit, tying the game through Adriana Soto and Rebeca González (4-4).
The match was decided in the penalty shootout and the team coached by Jordi Capdevila took the victory thanks to a great intervention by their goalkeeper, Ana Ferrer, and the goals of María Sanjurjo, Rebeca González, Adriana Soto and Aina Arxé (4-4, 1-4).
CP Fraga aims to continue making history and achieve the double in its second season in the top tier of women's roller hockey. They will face the winner of the other semifinal between Vila-Sana and Palau de Plegamans.
