Groups interested in participating can submit their proposals until August 5th. The competition will take place between October 19th and November 23rd, offers €2.600 in prizes, and, new this year, will include an activity for children.
The Mequinenza Town Council and the Garbinada Theatre Group of the Mequinenza Women's Association "La Dona" have announced the rules for participation in the 7th Mequinenza Amateur Theatre Competition (cTAM). The 2024 edition will be held between October 19th and November 23rd, and the main new features include the addition of an activity for children and a shorter submission deadline of August 5th to facilitate the organization of the competition.
Neither the rules nor the prize money for the finalist works have changed compared to the 2023 edition, in which 22 works were submitted, primarily comedies and dramas, from six autonomous communities: Castile and León, the Basque Country, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, and Aragon. A total of €2.600 in cash will be awarded to the four finalist companies, distributed as follows: €1.000 for first prize, €700 for second, €500 for third, and €400 for fourth. In addition to these prizes, there will be a special audience award, as well as awards for best stage production, best actor/actress, and best director, each of which will receive a statuette.
As stated in the rules, which can be consulted on the City Council's website or in the National Database of Subsidies, companies participating in the cTAM must provide information about the group, photos, and a synopsis of the work submitted for the competition, which may be in Spanish or Catalan. The registration must be accompanied by an audiovisual recording of the work submitted for the competition in the digital formats specified by the organizers, whether a performance or rehearsal, and this recording will be used to determine the finalists.
