The investment exceeds 61.000 euros and the redevelopment work is expected to be completed within two months.
The Fraga City Council began work this week on the project to develop the plot of land between Calle Mayor nº 15 and Calle San Martín, creating a new plaza in the heart of the historic center . The project, which began on Monday with preliminary clearing work and continued with the construction of retaining walls, was awarded to the company Hormigones Fraga SL for a total of €61.059. The construction period is two months.
Following this initial phase, the project includes leveling the land to integrate it with the layout of Calle Mayor, creating a wider area for its development. To bridge the difference in elevation with the upper area and ensure the stability of the ground, a retaining wall will be built, incorporating steps that can be used as access to Calle San Martín . The entire area will have a gentle slope in line with the main street and will be demarcated with bollards to guarantee exclusively pedestrian use.
In terms of aesthetics, the current site will incorporate a garden area in the center and will utilize the adjacent party wall to install a ceramic mural . This artistic intervention will commemorate the historical memory of the area, highlighting the origin of the noble title of the Foradada family, former owners of the building that originally occupied this site.
Demolition work on Parroquia street
Regarding the demolition of 23 Parroquia Street, work has been underway in recent weeks to bury the electrical installations. Following this, the electricity supplier Endesa must now make the electrical connections —which could take several more weeks—before the final preparation of the site can begin.
