The Bajo/Baix Cinca Regional Council has issued a press release summarizing the last plenary session held on Thursday, August 8th. According to the release, the council approved a budget amendment with an increase of €577.000 and a change to the working hours for employees of the Bajo/Baix Cinca Regional Council to 35 hours per week, among other items.

During the question and answer session, the councilors raised several concerns , including the construction timeline for the future regional residence, the need for more effective measures against black flies, and the waste collection service. They also requested information on social services work related to immigrants and expressed concern about the collaboration between the Mequinenza Town Council and the regional council regarding the International Descent of the Cinca River.

Increase of 577 euros in the general budgets

The plenary session of the regional council of the Bajo/Baix Cinca region has approved the supplementary credits of €90.000 for the drafting of the regional residence project and €304.000 for the purchase of a waste truck, among others.

Fraga, August 9, 2024.- Yesterday afternoon, at 17:00 p.m., the plenary session of the Bajo/Baix Cinca regional council took place, in which, among other points, the modification of the budgets was approved, with an increase of €577.000.

The budget modification corresponds to an investment of €90.000 for the drafting of the regional residence project, €304.000 for the purchase of a 22 cubic meter truck for urban waste, €180.000 for the acquisition of the land for the landfill, an increase of €3.000 in agreement with CEDER, and a modification of concepts in the investment of the study and management of the regional heritage corresponding to €6.000.

This point was approved with the votes in favor of the Popular Party, Entre Todos Baix Cinca and VOX, and the abstention of the Socialist Party and Tu Aragón.

The session approved the modification of the strategic subsidy plan for tourism promotion, meaning that, from now on, these subsidies will be paid for by the regional entity. It passed with votes in favor from the People's Party and Entre Todos Baix Cinca, and abstentions from the Socialist Party, VOX, and Tu Aragón.

Regarding the next item on the agenda, the modification of the working hours of the workers of the Bajo/Baix Cinca region to 35 hours per week, has been approved with the votes in favor of the Popular Party, Entre Todos Baix Cinca and VOX, and the abstention of the Socialist Party and Tu Aragón.

Regarding the item on the agenda concerning the Co-responsibility Plan, the regulations and operating procedures were reviewed, and it was indicated that the plan continues to operate according to the guidelines established by the Government of Aragon. Following this item, the recent controversy surrounding the "Gric i Groc" urban summer camps was discussed. All groups agreed to seek a solution. This was approved unanimously.

The motion presented by the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) proposing a request to the Government of Aragon to hire teachers for public primary schools and expressing its opposition to teacher cuts, failed to pass. The PP (People's Party) and Entre Todos Baix Cinca voted against it, VOX abstained, and the PSOE and Tu Aragón voted in favor. The PP also presented an urgent motion regarding the hiring of teachers in the Bajo/Baix Cinca region, tailored to the needs of each school. All groups voted in favor of the urgency of this motion.

The latest motion, also presented by the socialists, concerning the request for aid for weather damage caused in Mequinenza on June 30 and July 31, has passed unanimously and has been elevated to institutional status.
