The regional council meeting was held on Wednesday afternoon, March 27th, and, among other points, the imminent acceptance of the land for the construction of the future senior citizens' residence in Fraga was approved.
In this week's plenary session, a vote was held as an urgent matter in favor of the imminent acceptance of the land for the construction of the future regional residence in the municipality of Fraga. This land has been ceded by the city council.
According to the press release issued by the regional government, the governing team has indicated that, after years of waiting, work can finally begin on a regional care home, which is of utmost importance to the residents of the Bajo Cinca region. According to the People's Party, the regional care home is a fundamental part of the governing team's project for this legislative term.
Regarding the motion presented by the PSOE concerning the equipping of the Magda Godia residence in Mequinenza, according to information sent from the Bajo/Baix Cinca region, Councilor Luís Esteve explained that the users will be from nearby municipalities, not only from Mequinenza, so they understand that collaboration between institutions is necessary, referring to the allocation in the 2023 budget.
On the other hand, according to the text, David Casanova, spokesperson for the People's Party, emphasized that there is no document binding the regional entity to invest the 2023 allocation, questioning why it wasn't finalized in the previous legislature if that funding was so necessary. He also stressed that the residence is owned by the Mequinenza Town Council, a local, not a regional, entity. Meanwhile, the press release indicates that Esteve stated that the regional entity's contribution should be a matter of willingness, to which the People's Party responded that they have not refused and are interested, as evidenced by the regional president's visit to the residence and two meetings held with the local entity.
The proposal was rejected with votes against from PP and Entre Todos Bajo/Baix Cinca, votes in favor from PSOE and Tú Aragón, and an abstention from VOX.
