The Fraga team beat the league leaders 2-1 and strengthened their chances of promotion to the Second Division
Club Pádel Fraga delivered one of the biggest upsets of the season this weekend, defeating league leaders Pádel Figueruelas 2-1 at the Ciudad del Deporte. This victory allows the Fraga team to consolidate their position at the top of the standings and move closer to the promotion places, further boosted by the stumbles of several of their direct rivals.
Tejedor and Virzi lead a hard-fought victory
The home team nearly achieved a perfect record in a tie marked by the high level of play displayed by several of its pairs. The first point came thanks to Marc Tejedor and Bogdan Bucinschi, who delivered one of their most complete performances of the season. The pair from Fraga defeated Sergio Polo and Gascón, one of the top duos in the category, after a very demanding match.
Tejedor was once again one of the standout players of the day . Highly active in all aspects of the game, he dominated numerous rallies and led his team in a match that drew applause from the fans present at the Fraga facilities.
The second point for Club Pádel Fraga came courtesy of Mateo Virzi and Juanjo Florensa. Virzi's powerful shots and Florensa's solid play proved decisive in defeating Arnalda and Ochoa 6-4, 6-3, thus securing the victory in the tie and the three points for the team from Bajo Cinca.
The only match that went to the visitors was the one between the number two pair . Alberto Carrasquer and Cristian Bucinschi had the match well in hand after winning the first set 6-4 and having several opportunities to extend their lead in the second. However, Castán and Sancho capitalized on the comeback to take the second set 6-3 and force a third set.
The physical strain caused by the high temperatures eventually took its toll on the home team, who lost the match 6-2 in the final set. Even so, the final result allowed Club Pádel Fraga to close out a valuable day in their fight for promotion.
Double commitment before the summer break
The competition will be relentless this week . The team will play one of its matches early and will face a double-header before the summer break. On Friday, they will host Pádelife Aínsa at 8:00 p.m. at the Ciudad del Deporte, while on Sunday they will travel to Zaragoza to face CT María de Huerva.
There will also be action in the Inter-district League: the women's team will host Pádelife Aínsa, and the senior team will visit the Sobrarbe town . The junior team, meanwhile, will enjoy a day off.
