All four federated teams fell in the fourth regional round, although the weekend also left a good taste in the mouths of the 14 players competing for the Barbastro Provincial School Championship.
The Fraga Chess Club had last weekend circled in red, as its agenda included a double day of competition: on Saturday, February 14, it played the fourth day of the Aragon Team Championship, while on Sunday the 15th it participated in the XLIII School Sports Games of the Province of Huesca, held in Barbastro in the individual category.

In the Preferente division, Fraga "A" hosted San José de Zaragoza . And it was the beginning of bad news for the senior teams. The match ended in a 1-3 defeat: José Luis Ramón lost to Jesús Gracia on the top board, and Víctor Martínez fell to Fernando Obón. Germán Casas earned the team's only point by defeating Abel Rubio , while Miguel Ángel Aribau was defeated by José Joaquín Ferreruela. After this round, Fraga "A" sits in second place with six points.
In the First Division, teams “B” and “C” also played at home and lost 1,5-2,5 . Fraga “B” fell to Jaime Casas, with Fernando Begué and José Carmona losing to Mateo Mendoza and José Antonio Buil, respectively. The positive news came from Miguel Ángel Chiné, who drew with José María Abizanda, and Adrián Agustín de Dios, who secured the only victory against Manuel Rodríguez.
When it was Fraga “C’s” turn, the news didn’t improve: they lost to Monzón “C” with defeats for Aurelio Chesa and Fernando Lasheras against Laia Carabantes and Miguel Gaytán, respectively. As before, the only bright spots came with a draw and a win, secured by Mario Aribau and Álex López. In the standings, Fraga “B” is sixth with two points, and Fraga “C” is ninth , also with two points.
In the Second Division, Fraga "D" lost 0-4 against Jaime Casas "B", capping off a disastrous weekend . Ramón Mesalles, Juan Álvarez, Joaquín Badías, and Braulio Crespo were defeated by Lorien Ruiz, Cristian Nistor, Alejandro Oliván, and Lucas Nistor. As a result, they remain at the bottom of the table.
Participation of the Fraga Chess Club in the School Sports Games
Having put aside the chapter of Saturday's straight defeats, on Sunday, February 15th, it was the turn of the youngest chess players from the Fraga Chess Club , who traveled to Barbastro to compete in the 14rd Huesca Provincial School Sports Games in the individual category. Fourteen athletes represented Fraga.
In the beginners' category (under 8), Sergi Ibarz, Martín Casanova, and Leo Tarros scored three points out of seven . In the under-10 category, Darío Hernández finished ninth with four points, while Elena Dumitrache finished fifth in the girls' category.
In the under-12 category, Iván Ríos finished tenth with four points, and Noha Bedda came in third in the girls' standings. In the under-14 category, Eric Ruiz finished thirteenth in his competitive debut, while Adrián Agustín Blanc finished fourth with 4,5 points out of six in a highly competitive under-13 category.
