The Fraga Chess Club will play in the promotion phase after finishing the league as runner-up in the Preferente division.

Team “A” wins 0-4 in Huesca against Jaque “B” and advances to the playoffs, while the First Division teams close out their season

The Fraga Chess Club played this Saturday, March 21st, the last day of the Aragon Chess Team Championship 2026 , in which its "A" team achieved the goal of qualifying for the promotion playoff to the Honor Division after finishing in second position in the Preferential category.

Victory in Huesca and access to the playoffs

In the top division, as we previously reported, Fraga "A" traveled to Huesca to face Jaque "B" needing a win to maintain their promotion hopes, and the Fraga team secured the victory with a 4-0 win. José Luis Ramón defeated Francisco Rebolledo, Óscar Vallverdú beat Guillermo Oliva, and Adrián Agustín overcame Sergio Vizcarra. The fourth point came from an opponent's forfeit on the last board, awarding the victory to Víctor Martínez.

Following this result, Fraga “A” awaited other results. Olivar “B” won their match and were crowned champions, while San José's defeat allowed the Fraga team to finish in second place with 13 points , securing their coveted spot in the promotion playoffs. In those playoffs, they will face Aulazenter “B”, the team where Adrián Pallarés plays.

End of season in the First Division

In the First Division, Fraga "B" lost 2,5-1,5 away to Sabiñánigo and finished the competition in last place with three points. Miguel Ángel Chiné, Carlos Canales, and Jorge Casas drew their matches against Pedro Ocabo, Antonio Bellón, and Nicolás Díaz, respectively.

Fraga “C” also finished the league with a defeat , in this case 1-3 against L'Aurora Estadilla. Sergio Lana, Esteban Cabós, and Fernando Lasheras lost their matches to Carlos Félez, Arturo Puértolas, and Javier Palacián, respectively. Mario Aribau secured the team's only point by defeating Jesús Guitart. Fraga “C” finished seventh with four points.

Next stop: Zaragoza

The promotion playoff to the Honor Division will be played on Saturday at 16:15 p.m. at the headquarters of the Aragonese Artistic Group (Zaragoza), where Fraga “A” will face Aulazenter “B”.
