The organization expects higher participation from clubs than in previous editions.
Last week, the 25th edition of the International Descent of the Cinca River was presented in the assembly hall of the Bajo/Baix Cinca Regional Council. Those attending the press conference included the president of the regional council, José Javier Ferrer; the mayor of Fraga, Ignacio Gramun; the mayor of Torrente de Cinca, Rubén Morell; the regional sports councilor, Adolfo Sasot; the president of the Aragonese Canoeing Federation, José María Esteban Celorrio; Sonia Bonillo, representing the Caiac Club Baix Cinca; and the regional council's sports technician, Daniel Sorolla.
For this edition, to be held next Sunday, August 25, the organizers expect a high number of participants. For the first time, a Portuguese team, Clube Nautico de Crestuma, will be participating with approximately 30 paddlers. Regarding international participation, the regional sports department anticipates two returning French teams and a delegation of Argentinian athletes, whose participation is yet to be confirmed.
For the occasion, and also as a new feature for the 25th anniversary, the regional organization will be awarding more significant prizes than in previous years, such as a K2 kayak for the champions, a K1 for the runners-up, and a mini kayak for third place. They will also be offering a set of life jackets and a set of spray skirts, in addition to the traditional trophies and fruit baskets from the Bajo/Baix Cinca region.
As for the popular category registrations, there are already about 250 registered participants, according to the regional authorities, and they expect more people to sign up.
