Representatives from the Spanish Nanbudo Association (AEN) from the Sakura (Huesca) and Nichi (Ontiñena) dojos participated in the NEKO OPEN in Paris, competing with international nanbudokas in the Kata and Ju Randori (combat) modalities.
From the Nichi Dojo in Ontiñena, Alberto Roda traveled to compete in two Nanbudo categories, and Fernando Barcos, VI Dan of this discipline, traveled as a coach.
In the +85 kg category, Alberto successfully navigated previous matches against competitors from Cameroon, Morocco, and France, securing a place in the final where he faced the Croatian nanbudoka. In a closely contested match of technique and strength, the Croatian ultimately emerged victorious, leaving the competitor from Ontiñena with the silver medal.
In the Open category (all weights), the story unfolded similarly. The same competitors faced off again in the final, and once more, the Croatian representative emerged victorious, securing Alberto a second and important silver medal for the Spanish team.
The Ontiñena delegation returned to the Bajo/Baix Cinca region with two important medals after a tough competition. Two silver medals that add to Spain's achievements in this discipline.
Likewise, Spanish representative Miraie Gonzalez from Dojo Sakura (Huesca) won the Bronze medal in her combat category. Also noteworthy was the excellent performance of the other two Spanish competitors, Javier and María, in their respective categories.
The Nanbudo Nichi Dojo of Ontiñena will continue preparing competitors for upcoming events, carrying the name of its municipality and the Bajo/Baix Cinca region throughout the country and representing our region in international competitions.
