FOSCA is the new Czech-style Dark Lager from this Aragonese craft brewery, created especially to commemorate the eclipse of August 12th.
Some eclipses last only a few seconds, while others end up becoming beer. GARBA has chosen this August's eclipse to present FOSCA , a new Czech-style Dark Lager that arrives in a commemorative edition with a limited design.
Dark in color, almost black, FOSCA also plays with a unique contrast: despite its intense appearance, it offers a smooth and silky mouthfeel . The beer presents aromas of roasted malt and light notes of coffee, with a clean finish, coffee nuances, and a delicate bitterness. It has an ABV of 4,9%.
This edition has been created specifically for the eclipse, making FOSCA a proposal linked to one of the most anticipated astronomical events of this summer.
A beer to "change gears"
The launch is part of a GARBA campaign that revolves around one idea: "changing gears".
To accompany it, the brand has created the stories of Federico and Paquita, two hens who took advantage of an eclipse to escape from the henhouse, and of Dumbo and Leonarda, two circus animals who used another eclipse to abandon their old life and dedicate themselves to touring Europe with their music.
Two fictional stories with one thing in common: darkness as an opportunity to change your life.
Hence the concept that accompanies FOSCA: night in the day, darkness in the light and a beer created for this specific moment.
From Aragonese agricultural tradition to craft beer
GARBA was born in a small Aragonese village with the intention of maintaining a connection to the land and agricultural tradition. Its name comes from "garba," an Aragonese word that refers to the handful of grain collected and tied after the harvest.
The project is driven by Alberto Castellano , a chemical engineer responsible for production, formulation and quality, and F. Javier Andrés , in charge of the commercial and events area.
The brewery began its journey with three beers and plans to continue incorporating new styles and seasonal offerings.
Now, with FOSCA , GARBA proposes a beer that fits with the very phenomenon that inspires it: dark, different and available in a limited edition created to commemorate the eclipse.
